Fredi Jones is a graduate of the National Opera Studio 2019/2020; the Opera Course of the Guildhall School of Music; The Wales International Academy of Voice, where he studied under Dennis O’Neill; and Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music. He attended the 2016 Lisa Gasteen National Opera Studio, the 2017 Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto, was a 2019 Jerwood Young Artist with Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

His studies at the NOS were supported by a Young Artist Development Award from the Glyndebourne New Generation Programme. He was sponsored throughout his studies by The Todd Family Trust, the Tait Memorial Trust and the John and Margaret Hunn Educational Trust. More recently, his engagements have included his principal debut with Glyndebourne as Tom Rakewell The Rake’s Progress in their Autumn season, also singing Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Glyndebourne in the Summer Festival, Laurie in the UK premiere of Mark Adamo’s Little Women for Opera Holland Park, for whom he also appeared in America in SongAlbert Herring in his continental debut with Theater Lübeck, Tom Rakewell The Rake’s Progress for English Touring Opera. As a soloist, appearances have included Messiah and The Creation with Orpheus Choir Wellington and Celebrate Christmas with Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Melot Tristan und Isolde for The Mahler Players and Messiah with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Competition success includes First Prize in both the Wellington Dame Malvina Major Foundation Aria Competition and the New Zealand Aria Competition.

Current engagements include his Handel debut as Jupiter / Apollo Semele, at Theater LübeckFerrando Così fan tutte at the Celebrate Voice Festival,  with Vache Baroque, he appears in Visionaries: A Multi-Sensory Experience.
